Top Hand Hitting Drill
How do I use the top hand drill to get better swing path?
In this drill, Chris will show you how to use the top hand hitting drill to get a better swing path and understand where your top hand should be during the swing.
Items needed for this drill
- Net or Field To Hit Into
- Batting Tees
- Light Bat or Your Bat To Choke Up On
- Bucket of Baseball/Softballs
We want to get in our normal batting stance and we want to have the bat in our top hand. We will keep our bottom hand passive by placing it on our chest or anywhere it is comfortable without getting in the way of our swing.
We want to start by relaxing our bat on our shoulder and then getting our bat in the loaded position. We then want to start our swing by keeping our top hand really close to our body on the beginning of our swing.
As our swing progresses out towards the ball, we want to pretend we are punching the ball with our right hand. This will allow us to get extension out through the baseball and not cut our swing off around the ball.
Make sure that the tee is set up 2 inches in front of home plate and that our stride foot does not land pass the tee.
Make sure that the effort level is around 60%-70% so that you can control the movement and feel where the barrel and your hand is throughout the swing.
Don't Take Our Word For it! Here's What Our Customers Think:
-
“The net is excellent! My boys haven't quit practicing since we received it! Thank you! ”

“...I enjoyed the easy ordering process; it arrived expediently as well. Set up/take down is less than a minute (which is great when you're backed up on practice fields' schedules). I use it for tee work, of course; but I have used it for everything from outfielders hitting cutoffs to infielders throwing accuracy to pitchers working on pickoffs and starting double plays... ”

“I purchased your net with tee for my 12-year-old daughter. She plays travel softball and her coach has one similar. It's a quality product, easy up and down, storage bag is great for transporting too, even the tee fits in it. .. ”
